First Aid at Work (3 day)
It is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers should provide a safe and healthy environment for their employees.
If your assessment of First Aid needs highlights the need for qualified First Aiders, then this Level 3 qualification (Level 6 in Scotland) will provide you with suitable, highly trained personnel.
This comprehensive three-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. This course will give the participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid.
Sample of topics:
Dealing with a patient who is unresponsive and breathing
Unresponsive and not breathing, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
Choking
Bleeding - minor and serious
Shock
Burns
Feeling faint
Poisoning
Head injuries
Hypothermia or heat exhaustion
Injury to a bone, muscle or joint (including spinal injuries)
Learners will also be able to help a casualty who is having a:
Seizure
Heart attack, including the administration of aspirin
Angina attack
Stroke
Asthma attack
Severe allergic reaction
Diabetic emergency.
The course also includes information on:
Assessing a casualty
Monitoring a casualty
Where to get help
Electrical incidents
Accident recording and reporting
The control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH)
Duration
A minimum of 18 hours spread over at least three days.
Ideally, the course should be run over three consecutive days, but we have the flexibility to accommodate your specific needs, providing it is completed within 10 weeks of starting the course.
